Agency removes video tour of flat where murder took place

A lettings agency has removed a video of an apartment where a murder took place, following an approach by a national news outlet.

The Mail Online was notified that the Bristol Residential Letting Co’s YouTube channel was carrying a video of the flat where tenant Joanna Yeates lived and was murdered at Christmas 2010.

The Mail suggests the video tour was online since the property was last let in late 2022, but has now been taken down following criticism by a victim support organisation, Support After Murder and Manslaughter, which has 4,000 members.

SAMM chief executive Joanne Early told the news outlet: “A video tour of a property where a murder has occurred is always risky as it allows those with a morbid curiosity to look inside houses where crimes have taken place.

“This may be seen as disrespectful to the victim and bereaved families. The majority of SAMM members would be upset and horrified at the thought of a murder scene being filmed in this way.”
