A judge is expected to rule in the next two weeks in the case of students being sued by a landlord after failing to pay rent following the death of a housemate.
Early in 2014 four students found Robert Chavda, 21, dead in his bed after suffering a brain haemorrhage, allegedly as a result of taking a drug.
The three required counselling for post traumatic stress and were rehoused by Canterbury university after saying they could not return to the five bedroom property where Chavda had died.
One of the four students has paid the remaining five months’ rent of the contract for the property; the other three have not, and now allegedly owe landlord Werner Toogood some £6,529.
Toogood took the claim for rent for the 2013/14 academic year to Medway Civil Court and a judge is expected to return a verdict later this month.
Three of the students offered to pay Toogood three of the remaining five months of their tenancy to terminate the contract, but he refused to accept the offer.

very messed up situation! my opinion is that both parties need to compromise..
Death happens. These kids need to grow up. My father and grandmother died within 12hrs of each other when I was a teenager. I grew up, fast. Bills had to be paid, probate had to be sorted and all the rest. Even the rent on two houses was paid.
