Research for a student accommodation service says the average weekly rent paid by students has risen a modest £1.43 in the past year.
Accommodationforstudents.com says over the past five years the annual average increase in weekly rents paid by students has been just £1.67.
The service says the annual average rent paid by students across the UK is £82.09.
Students in Greater London pay £122.01 per week on average - at the other end of the scale, students in Wales pay just £69.70 per week.

Regional disparities in rent values remain strong with students in the North of England paying £14.73 less per week than students in the South.
Plymouth, Exeter, Nottingham and Liverpool were recorded as having the greatest range in weekly rents, a difference of between £138 and £146 between the lowest and highest rents recorded in these cities. For example, the lowest recorded rent in Plymouth was £39 but the highest was £185.

London has always been an expensive place to live in. Same goes for studying - the best schools are in London. Besides, with all these foreign students that come to UK every year (most of whom go to London), the pressure for accommodations will continue to increase. After all education is an investment - the riskier the investment, the higher the returns (if any)
