Agents asked to tell council how to improve rental sector policies

Lettings agents are being invited to tell a big city council how to improve its private rental sector strategy.

Manchester local authority says privately rented homes have become one of the most popular types of housing in the city “so it is important that as it grows standards are maintained and the sector retains the trust of Manchester people.”

Therefore the council is reviewing its policies for the sector and wants to be kept abreast of new developments and thoughts from those at the centre of what’s going on.

A statement from the council says: “Central to this is the input from renters, landlords, lettings agents - amongst others - so the review can reflect what is working well, what isn’t working and what should be improved.”

Therefore there is a short online consultation document which agents can file, which can be found here: www.manchester.gov.uk/consultations.

The consultation is open until the end of Friday this week, November 8.
