More lettings reps on beefed up redress panel

One of the two official redress bodies, the Property Redress Scheme, has announced a beefed up advisory panel with a substantial number of lettings sector representatives.

The PRS has a membership of over 17,000 property agency branches and property professionals and the new panel includes a Landlord member (Soek Yee Ashley Wong); a tenant rep (Robert Brown) and a member of the lettings industry (Lynne Moss).

The Holiday Lets rep is well-known landlord champion Vanessa Warwick, which there are also representatives for Guaranteed Rent, Build To Rent, Inventories and Agent Compliance, amongst others.

The Property Redress Scheme deals with approximately 2,000 complaints from tenants, landlords, property buyers and sellers each year and in 2021 awarded nearly £500,000 in compensation to those who had complaints upheld.

To strengthen its governance and accountability, the PRS is also launching a new member panel and is seeking members with experience of agency, inventory provision, lettings and property management, private and incorporated landlords and others.

Sean Hooker, head of redress at the PRS, says: “We’re approaching our second decade of redress and have industry leading expertise as a result.  We recognise the expertise of our members too and that’s why we want them to help us with their feedback, guidance, advise and support. The member panel gives them that opportunity as well as enabling them to engage with other Panel members to share knowledge and raise standards”.

PRS members can apply to join the member panel here.
