A new portal makes it simpler for letting agents to check on the growing number of complaints against them.
The Property Ombudsman’s membership portal describes itself as a one-stop-shop where members can view the status of complaints, update their business information, download membership certificates and access practical guidance.
Designed to support day-to-day interactions with members, the portal also brings together frequently used resources including Codes of Practice, compliance guidance, complaints handling templates, frequently asked questions and business focused case studies.
The new software tool ls being launched as the Property Ombudsman reveals a huge increase in the number of complaints it has received in the first half of this year, a 55% increase on the same period in 2025.
Lesley Horton, the Chief Property Ombudsman, says there is now more pressure on the organisation than ever before.
“With demand for our service increasing significantly, this portal is an important step in making support simpler, faster and more accessible for members.
“It gives them greater visibility, practical tools and guidance in one place, helping them manage their responsibilities with confidence while allowing our teams to focus their expertise where it can have the greatest impact.”
The organisation intends to continue developing the portal over time. Future enhancements are expected to include online bill payments, a more personalised member experience, improved functionality for larger corporate businesses and further enhancements to case management.
Matthew Lewis, TPO membership manager, adds:“The aim of the portal is to make it easier for members to access the information and services they need, whenever they need them, and to reduce the need for time consuming routine emails and telephone calls to the membership team.
“Members can update many of their own details, download membership certificates and check the progress of complaints without having to contact us. That saves them time while allowing our membership team to focus on providing support where it is needed most.”
