Members of the Ethical Agent Network (EAN) have now given more than £50,000 to good causes across the UK.
It’s called the Karma Club. Every month, £5-£10 from each member’s subscription goes into a central fund.
But instead of EAN deciding where it goes, members nominate the causes that matter to them in the towns where they work.
Since launching in 2019, the Karma Club has backed well over 200 organisations and appeals: foodbanks needing emergency supplies, grassroots sports clubs kitting out kids’ teams, schools fixing up tired playgrounds, animal rescue centres keeping the lights on, and families hit by illness or sudden hardship who just needed a bit of help.
Jerry Lyons, Founder of the Ethical Agent Network, says: “The best estate agents are usually at the heart of their communities. They sponsor local teams, support schools and charities, and know first-hand where help is needed.
“The Karma Club gives our members another way to make a difference. It’s evolved, originally part of our Estate Agent Content Club, and over the past three years it’s been funded by EAN members.
“Passing £50,000 is a wonderful milestone, but it’s not really about the figure. It’s about the hundreds of people whose lives have been made a little easier because independent estate agents chose to support their communities rather than talk about doing so.”
The Ethical Agent Network is a national membership organisation for independently owned estate agents committed to raising standards across the industry.
Every member is independently assessed and must meet strict entry criteria, including a minimum number of verified five-star Google reviews, a proven commitment to supporting at least two community or charitable initiatives every 12 months, and a set of promises to always do the right thing by their clients, colleagues and the communities they serve.
Membership is by invitation and successful application.
