Government rental chief to be quizzed at upcoming industry event

The government's director of rented housing is set to address the industry at an upcoming event open to letting agents and landlords.

Anne Frost, deputy director for the Private Rented Sector in the Ministry of Housing, will address the Residential Landlords Association's (RLA) Future Renting conference later this month.

Frost has overall responsibility for forming and implementing government policy and feeding opinion from stakeholders, including letting agents, back to ministers.

The RLA says that Frost's attendance will offer insight into what the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is thinking and further possible legislative changes.

"It will be an important opportunity for landlords and agents to ask questions and share their views on the considerable changes being faced by the sector," says John Stewart, the association's policy manager.

Also speaking at the event will be Karen Buck MP, whose Homes (Fitness) For Human Habitation Bill is currently passing through Parliament, Property Ombudsman Katrine Sporle and Richard Tacagni of London Property Licensing.

The conference is open to letting agents, landlords with portfolios of all sizes, local authority councillors and officers, and housing charities.

The event will be hosted by LBC Radio's Clive Bull, presenter of the Property Hour, and takes place on Thursday September 13 in London.

The housing markets right across England and Wales are broken, except for those who want to try and make themselves money from owning property!

There is a workable solution however. If this conference does not examine this issue it will miss a golden opportunity to do the right thing.
